A little about me...

The violinist Sonya Suldina, who is from Ukraine, gained important experience as a soloist and as a chamber musician during her studies in her home country. She worked with composers such as Valentin Silvestrov and Sergei Pilyutikov and premiered several works. She received her first education in Kiev where she studied with Marianna Reznik and Ludmila Ovtcharenko. In order to enhance her artistic development, she moved to Switzerland in spring 2012 and joined the class of Sebastian Hamann at the Hochschule für Musik – Luzern, where she obtained her Master’s degree in January 2015 as well as a  Master degree in “Interpretation of Contemporary Music”. In September 2015 Sonya Suldina won first prize at the Concours Nicati, the most important interpretation competition for contemporary music in Switzerland.

One of the focal points of her artistic work is the music of our time: she participated in the Academy for Contemporary Music at the Hochschule Luzern – Musik, Darmstadt Ferienkurs, Impuls Akademie. In September 2015 she was invited to the Buenos Aires International Theater Festival to perform The Past, a dance theater developed by Oscar Bianchi and Constanza Macras. As a chamber musician and soloist Sofia Suldina also performs regularly at festivals and with various projects in Switzerland and other European countries.

She is a guest performer at Klangforum Wien and the Basel Sinfonietta. Sonya Suldina is a scholarship holder of the Fondation Irène Dénéréaz and the Fondation Nicati-de Luze. In 2017 she has won the Fischer Competition recognition prize. She is a member of Ensemble Ö! and Ensemble Sargo.
